A Warning To The GOP

Cantor's mistake was in using the trashing of the grassroots, as his strategy, instead of challenging the dems!  Imo, the institutionalized-Rs BELIEVED the ultra-liberal msm's talking points that 1. The TEA party, as a movement, was dead. And, 2. The INDependents want more govt expansion and intrusion.  Then there's #3: The majority of AMERICAN Citizens, w/hispanic roots, DO NOT WANT "amnesty"; nor do they (ME included!) approve of the exploitation, and the pandering, of illegal aliens!

There's also a #4. And that one is where the msm puts the fear-of-God in ALL those that even mention the repeal of the "affordable" Care Act (aka Obamacare). Like "global warming" (aka "climate change"), the dems, in unison w/ the global liberal msm, continue working overtime trying to sell the FAILED "It's a settled-science." narrative.  As it really isn't at all!

As long as there are CORRUPT FOOLS, in the GOP, that continue to want to TRY to "play with" the socialists and progressives of the Democrat Party -- instead of standing FOR the Constitution, ltd govt, and States rights, we, as a nation, WILL continue to fall, economically AND morally. At that rate, eventually collapsing and finally becoming that "3rd world" banana-govt, that has a politically-impotent military; and a "kangaroo-court".

Obama's "fundamental transformation", and Cloward & Piven's wet dream of "Overwhelming the system", will be complete.  THIS is what Rush Limbaugh wanted to "fail"!

  • Cantor foolishly thought he could fight against the party base and still buy enough votes.

I hope a lot of RINO's retire to avoid the same fate.

  • While excited that Cantor was ousted. My joy is being diluted by the hour. Per usual the candidate who beat him the Dem's are likely enjoying, savoring the win. I think Brat will prove to be a tad much for 'some' voters of the 7th district. While the district is considered red many republicans can safely be described as holding more socially oriented beliefs. The fact this is true just may turn some to go for the democrats.

The MSM already has enough fuel to set a fire -- money will pour in to beat the GOP candidate.

  • This was a stunning defeat. Cantor seemed either to know his defeat was imminent or he simply did not choose to fight for his preservation. Perhaps it was both. It does seem that cronyism within his campaign structure did not serve him well even though Cantor's war chest was huge in comparison. Attempts by the RNC to control delegates at the district level obviously backfired.

I see no evidence that heavy weights in Congress campaigned for him, could be wrong on this.

The Democrat that will take on Brat is a true progressive. While the gerrymandered 7th district is considered  a red one it is changing in terms of social issues.  This means to me that Brat's campaign going forward must walk a very fine line. I hope he is successful accomplishing this.

    • "Cantor seemed either to know his defeat was imminent or he simply did not choose to fight for his preservation"

Pat, come on now!  He spent approx $5 MILLION on this campaign!  He attended an event at the Ritz-Carlton ($5k per person) organized by GOERGE SOROS himself!  He OPENLY went after the grassroots!

Eric Cantor WENT ALL OUT -- completely in the name of SELF PRESERVATION!  Period!

"his campaign structure did not serve [him] well"

      "him"?!

GOOD! His JOB is to SERVE THE PEOPLE!  Not [himself]!

"Attempts by the RNC to control delegates at the district level obviously backfired"

Again, GOOD!  It obviously BLEW a wide hole out of their @$$E$!

"I see no evidence that heavy weights in Congress campaigned for him"

      LOL!

John "the drunken-cry-baby" Boehner was supposed to've attended that event at the Ritz in Amelia Island, FL. But he had SMARTLY canceled!  It seems to be every-man-for-himself!  And that's shameful! But, too friggin bad!  This is what they get for siding AGAINST regular American Citizens! The grassroots!

      • Luis, I believe I said that I was excited he was ousted. Yes he out spent his opponent big time. He wasted the dollars -- kinda informs how members of Congress think -- spend the money and things are fixed, cronies are pleased.

There are about 900,000 people in the 7th district. Less than a 100,000 voted. I was trying to point out that Cantors ouster is not out of the woods. I do believe that to be real.

Think Progress pointed out "a victory for Trammell in the 7th would not be unprecedented. In the 2008 U.S. Senate race, former Democratic governor Mark Warner defeated former Republican governor Jim Gilmore by about a 60 to 39 percent spread among voters in the district. While it has since been somewhat altered in the 2011 redistricting, the surrounding areas also voted for Warner in similar numbers."

I lived and still know folks in the 7th district. Demographics are changing and sentiments regarding social issues are changing. I simply wanted to imply that it is not a slam dunk for Brat. If the Dem's smell a possibility to take the seat, they will go after it. I doubt Cantor will choose to do it but the option does exist that he could run as a write-in.

  • The GOP "boys club" will likely continue to trash the likes of Dave Brat.  But,  don't forget.  They had done the same to Rand Paul and Ted Cruz as well!  Not to mention how they nuked Sarah Palin!

BUT, it DIDN'T work! We're STILL here!  You know why?  Imo, "they" (both the prog Rs and Ds) treat the TEA party as if they/we are an actual political "party" -- w/ a figure head!  They think only in one dimension.

We are a "movement". We are local FIRST! And that, to me, is the reason why we'll triumph, in the end!   ;)

  • Have ya heard?  Cantor will resign as House Majority leader on 7/31/2014.

    C/ya! And I wouldn't wanna B/ya!

To me it showed Americans that they can vote out incumbents they feel aren't being aggressive on issues BUT I'll bet you money that the GOP goes after this new guy now to prompt people to question his knowledge and abilities.  Thereby discouraging others from voting out inbumbents again in the future.  Poor guy is in for it.

    • Okay, Laura, the GOP "boys club" will probably trash Dave Brat.  But, have you forgotten that they had done the same to Rand Paul and Ted Cruz as well!  Not to mention how they nuked Sarah Palin!
