U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi, is currently being held in a jail in Mexico, after, by all accounts, he accidentally crossed the US/Mexican border with three US issued and permitted firearms in his possession.

Sgt. Tahmooressi has been held for over a month now, and despite efforts from some lawmakers such as Rep. Duncan Hunter to garner support from the State Department and Administration on his behalf, to have him released – he is still being held, awaiting a court hearing date scheduled for later this month.
Secretary Kerry is making a trip to Mexico today, though it remains to be seen if he will address this issue with members of the Mexican government. During a news conference Kerry talked about the “mutual respect” between the United States and Mexico but, at least publicly, Kerry made no mention of the Marine Sergeant who may be facing up to 21 years in a Mexican prison.

  • This is just one more example that Obama puts our country at every possible disadvantage.

  • Laura, This is a troubling story. Mexico is a heavy exporter of violence and drugs -- heavy hand on any U.S. citizen bringing weapons into Mexico. With the O administration along with Mexico claiming that most weapons are supplied to the cartels are from Mexico's neighbors to the north who knows how much the U.S. will push for the release of the Sargent.

The Sargent said in an interview this week that he expected to be returned to the U.S. within 30 days.

The interview was confusing to me. It was difficult for me to discern truth from what he said. No matter when our gov't releases the Mexican criminals from our prisons and jails with green cards surely Mexico could be friendly and let one of ours go.

    • Re reading my reply above did not mean to imply that our good Sargent was a criminal only meant to say that an American should receive in kind what Mexico demands of Obama in the treatment of Mexican's who break all laws of the U.S.

I am proud to introduce Mr. Michael Cutler as a new contributor here at TCC. He brings with him the experience of a 30 year career with the Immigration Naturalization Service (INS) and at the time of his retirement, was a Senior Special Agent assigned to the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force.

Since 9/11 he has been determined to educate the citizens and leaders of our country about the true importance of our immigration laws, testifying before Congress over a dozen times as an expert witness, providing testimony to the 9/11 Commission and at state legislative hearings across the United States. He has also appeared on many national television and radio programs on the major networks and has participated in panel discussions and debates on college campuses and other venues from coast to coast.

We encourage you to follow his insight into this complicated subject and will let Mr. Cutler speak for himself............
